The new V6-powered SL 350 has an on-the-road price of £72,495, while the V8-powered SL 500 costs £83,445, with both models set to arrive in the UK in June 2012. They will be joined later in the year by the 530hp SL 63 AMG and the 621hp SL 65 AMG V12, with pricing for these two models to be announced closer to the launch date.

Following yesterday’s leak, we just discovered a new image gallery of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class on the internet that contains 30 official pictures of the facelifted roadster. Set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, before going on sale in April, the 2009 SL roadster features a heavily revised front-end along with minor tweaks in the interior. Mechanical changes include the new variable ratio, speed sensitive steering system and the addition of a new entry-level model, the SL 280 that’s equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 delivering 231 HP and a maximum torque of 300 Nm or 231 lbs/ft. Also, Mercedes replaced the SL 55 AMG with the SL 63 AMG which features a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 525 HP and 630 Nm of torque (SL 55 AMG: 5.5-liter supercharged V8 with 517 HP and 720 Nm of torque). -Image gallery after the jump
We couldn’t agree more with our reader “Sketcher” who sent us this photo of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL’s interior (click here); Merc’s designers must have spent many hours watching E.T. again and again before they started working on the shape of the SL’s seats fitted with the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system. The crack in the dam surrounding the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL just got bigger today as a whole set of images were leaked into the internet this morning. Design-wise, the facelifted SL features a completely redesigned front-end with a single-bar grille along with a revised rear-bumper, different side-gills and new alloy wheels. Inside, as with the 2009 CLS, Merc’s Roadster has been equipped with a new three-spoke steering wheel with multifunction buttons and a new-look instrument cluster with white dials.In terms of mechanical upgrades we’re still in the dark, but we do know for sure that Mercedes will replace the SL 55 AMG with the SL 63 AMG. The latter features a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine delivering 525 HP and 630 Nm of torque (SL 55 AMG: 5.5-liter supercharged V8 with 517 HP and 720 Nm of torque). The SL 63 AMG goes from nought to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 sec (SL 55 AMG: 4.5 sec). –Image gallery after the jump
An anonymous reader has sent these two images of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL facelift to our Spanish friends at Motorpasion supporting that they are official. Needless to say, we’re cautious to jump into any definite conclusions, but we’d say there’s a pretty good chance that they are official. We remind you that a couple of weeks ago, Mercedes-Benz AMG released an image and details for the redesigned SL AMG 63 on their site (click here). Compared to the current SL, the car pictured here features an-all new front end, a redesigned rear-bumper, different side-gills and new alloy wheels. Since, from what we’ve heard, Mercedes will present the facelifted SL at the Geneva Show in March, we’re suspecting that it won’t take long for the Germans to officialy unleash details on their redesigned roadster. -One more pic after the jump
Lorinser’s 660 HP Mercedes-Benz SL Nardo3 managed to achieve a top speed of 202 mph or 325 km/h at the Nardo race circuit in “The Nardo3 is a race machine designed for the road. The goal we tried to achieve with this design was to allow the driver to have as much fun as possible and, at the same time, enjoy the atmosphere the car creates,” explains Marcus Lorinser, Managing Director of the Winnenden maker.
Exterior-wise, the flanks of the vehicle are marked by the aggressive front and rear bumpers, widened fenders, and gigantic air intakes. The latter are used for effectively deflecting the heat generated by the engine and brakes.
The vehicle’s interior, on the other hand, retains all the creature comforts including seats that are both comfortable and provide sufficient support as well as the opulent and comprehensive Alcantara interior equipment.
Just when you think you’ve seen them all… We don’t know why but at some point, one of the owner’s of this 1983 Ford Mustang Convertible thought it would be a great idea to cover up the Stang’s sober looks with a 90’s Mercedes-Benz SL-Class replica bodykit. He did however leave the Mustang’s original interior intact which probably sucks in the rare case that someone actually falls for the Mercedes-Benz star on the bonnet… Really now, what would you say if a friend of yours showed up on your doorsteps and picked you up in a car like this? -More images after the jump
